"Children to leave Chowbent with a love of learning,

    of others and of themselves"

Chowbent was founded in 1860 by members of the Unitarian congregation of Chowbent Chapel. The Unitarian faith and ethos has shaped the school for more than 160 years. We pride ourselves on the promotion of an inclusive and tolerant Unitarian world view. Many refer to us as the 'Chowbent Family' which reflects this inclusivity. Families come in all shapes and sizes but what binds them is understanding, acceptance and love.

"Never be less than your best"

We pride ourselves on being a school where every child matters and where every child is helped to meet their potential in a warm and supportive environment.

We endeavour to praise the children informally, individually, during group work, in front of the whole class and the whole school. Children are rewarded not only for achievement in curriculum areas, but for behaviour and general adherence to the Chowbent’s moto.
