I am proud to welcome you to Chowbent Primary School, a caring and inclusive school at the heart of Atherton, Wigan, where every child is valued and supported to achieve their full potential. As a small school, we are proud of the strong family atmosphere that exists throughout our classrooms. Children make good progress here because we endeavour to meet their individual needs, both academic and pastoral. We continually review how well we are meeting each child's needs. When they need support, we will work to provide it. When they are capable of achieving more, we will guide and challenge them to get there.
We have a long and proud history within the local community, originally founded in 1860 by the Unitarian Chapel in Chowbent, reflecting the area’s strong commitment to education and community values. We also place great importance on working in partnership with parents and carers, recognising that strong relationships between home and school play a vital role in supporting children’s success. Pastoral support and wellbeing are at the heart of our school ethos. They underpin everything that we do and, along with the quality of teaching and learning, it is what our community is all about.
The best way to understand our caring ethos and creative approach to education is to visit the school and see our community in action. We invite children, their parents, carers and families into a friendly, happy and hardworking school where respect for others, positive attitudes towards work and behaviour are encouraged and nurtured.
I look forward to welcoming you to Chowbent Primary School and working with you and your family as we continue to grow and achieve great things.
Kind regards,
Mr J Randle (Headteacher)
