Spellings are given out on a Monday and tested the following Monday. Revision of spellings, spelling patterns and phonemes (the sounds the letters make) are taught and practised throughout the week.
PE is done on a Monday afternoon. Please ensure that all PE kits are in school and that they have the right uniform; a white t-shirt, black shorts and black pumps. Trainers are not allowed. Don't forget to put names on them!
Homework is given out on a Friday and is due to be returned on the following Tuesday.

In an afternoon, Mrs Bennett covers the Guided Reading and the Foundation subjects from Art to Science and Computing plus many more. Please read the attached document showing what Year 1 will be covering this term.
This week in Literacy we have been watching the story 'Bumps In The Night' from the 'Funny Bones' series by Alan Ahlberg. You can find the whole collection of stories on YouTube. We have been sequencing the story and writing speech for the character 'Big Skeleton'.
In Maths we have been learning our number bonds to 10 as well as counting forwards and backwards on a number line and 100 square.
This week in Literacy we have been answering questions about our story 'Bumps In The Night' as well as practising building and writing sentences using a capital letter and a full stop.
In Maths we have been counting and ordering numbers up to 50 and then improving our number formation.
In Literacy, we have been making and writing predictions about a Funny Bones Story called Hide And Seek plus retelling the story through Drama. We have also been improving our sentence building skills.
In Maths, we have started learning our number bonds to 20 and finding 1 more and 1 less than a number.
This week in Literacy we have been learning high frequency words and have be finding them in a text of a familiar book, answering questions from the book, practising our capital letter formation and building sentences.
This week in Maths we have been learning about place value by being able to say how much each digit in a number is worth e.g. 23 has 2 tens and 3 ones. As well as this, we are continuing to practise our number bonds to 10 and 20.
Don't forget that Friday is an INSET day for teachers so there is no school on Friday! (What a lovely early start to a holiday! ) Have a lovely half term!
