Chowbent Primary School was founded in 1860 and was sited next to Chowbent Unitarian Chapel, in the minister's house. Over the next 100 years or so, many alterations were made to the original building but by the 1990's it was becoming unsuitable for modern teaching.
Applications were made to the Government for a brand new building and work on the new school finally began in spring 2000. Staff and pupils moved in on 8th January 2001.
